False Friends and the Real Cost of Trust



They say trust me. Trust me. Like the words themselves hold some weight, some magic, some invisible armor against the truth. They come to you with smiling faces, firm handshakes, their eyes steady and voices low, as if loyalty could be whispered and believed just by saying it enough.

But the world is old, and the world is tired, and men and women have been at this for ages. While they tell you trust me, trust me, their whispers run like dirty water behind your back. They call you trash, treat you cheap, speak poison in the dark. But you know—if you pay attention—that everything they say about you is what they carry in themselves, dragged in heavy bags from every burned bridge and empty promise.

There’s a word for that kind of person. False. Rotten to the core, even if their skin stays smooth for now. They think if they shine their smile bright enough, you’ll never smell the stink they leave behind.

Never trust a two-faced people woman or man who moves like that—never let them close, never give them the keys to your house or your check here heart. Because what they call you is what they are. Pure trash, wrapped in pretty talk and borrowed manners, empty as a rusted can rolling down an alley in the wind.

Life is too short, and trust is too valuable, to waste on those who turn it into a knife for your back. If you find someone like this, let them go—let them spin their stories elsewhere—and watch the door swing shut.

You only ever trust someone who proves it when no one’s looking. All the rest, all the liars and gossips and backstabbers, they can keep their “trust me” for someone else. You know better. And if you don’t, you learn, the hard way, once—but never twice.
